Where does SPN Silent Majority originate?
- spn-gossip, click here to read the comment section as proof. Compare the wording of the posts. They’re claiming to be against character hate but there is plenty of Castiel and ship hate in those comments, and spn-gossip is the section of the fandom that is so obsessed with the idea of J2 being real that they harass the wives and even accused Genevieve of faking her pregnancy. It isnot a good place for fandom.
Who is the SPN Silent Majority?
- Well, other than being from spn-gossip, 99% of the people actually reblogging their posts and spamming tracked tags with letters to the writers/pushing their agenda are actually fake blogs. These blogs only have about a handful of posts in them. See here, here, here, here for example. Most were created right around the time of the campaign if you look at the archives, or they were created earlier but still have barely any posts and only began posting again right when the campaign launched. I’ve only seen two or three actual active fandom blogs supporting this project so far and some of them have also been posting occasional character hate. The submissions they’re posting on their blog don’t link back to any actual blogs, either. If you check their Twitter followers, they mostly seem to be followed by the people who stalk Supernatural articles bashing any character who isn’t Sam or Dean (you’ll recognize them if you’re active in article commenting).
SPN Silent Majority have started making posts claiming the negative feedback is bullying and claiming that we are the exact reason why this campaign needs to be sent to the writers.
- But bullying and harassing people into supporting your own agenda is perfectly fine, right? Here, here, here - and people can vouch that there’s been many more. One person who has been vocal about standing up against this has been getting vehemently harassing messages from fake blogs like the ones mentioned in the paragraph above. She had to disable her ask box. Some have gotten messages attempting to guilt them into “seeing the light” by claiming Jared, Jensen, Misha, and the rest of the cast would support this.
What is their objective?
- They don’t seem to know their true objective themselves. They claim that season 7 didn’t have any brother moments, that they miss Sam and Dean. They want Sam and Dean to spend even more time together, despite the fact that both actors have stressed wanting to spend time apart for the sake of developing their characters, here’s a quote from Jared specifically. Jared has also talked about looking forward to time off so he can spend time with his wife and son. SPN Silent Majority claims to support the inclusion of characters other than Sam and Dean involved in the story, and yet the document they’ve set up for print out to mail to the writers and showrunner very blatantly claim that the show is only about Sam and Dean, as do most of the “submissions” and screencapsthey’ve been posting, even criticizing involving scenes involving other characters. They are being incredibly disrespectful toward the writers and outright demanding that the show be written the way they want it to be written, claiming they’re fighting for Eric Kripke while also telling the writers that they’re the majority of the fandom with absolute no proof.
By contacting the writers showing support for this campaign, you are telling them that you can do a better job writing and running the show than they can. You are making an embarrassment of the fandom by making it seem as if the majority of us feel entitled to have the show written to meet every single demand. And, frankly, in how many more ways can they prove that Sam and Dean have an incredible brother bond? All they have left to do is removing every other character from the show so it can literally be ALL about them. That is essentially what you’re asking the writers to do with this, because how else can they make the story even more Sam and Dean centric, and can you honestly name any show that’s done well on TV that only had two characters? Can you? (Also, I’m already calling the next post popping up claiming that people are trying to “slander their name” which is why I tried to include as many links as possible.)
We all love Sam and Dean and we’re all allowed to have opinions, but this is honestly one of the worst things I’ve seen pop up in any fandom I’ve taken part in. This is beyond having an opinion, this is harassing the writers and fandom of a TV show we all love. Tom Cruise doesn’t approve.

Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston & Benedict Cumberbatch as Uni flatmates.
Jensen declaring his love for Misha.
